PCD (polycrystalline diamond) saw blades deliver a significant step-up in tool life over TCT for aluminum cutting. But they are not the right answer for every operation — and choosing PCD in the wrong context means paying for performance you won’t fully use.
PCD makes sense when:
- You run a dedicated aluminum cutting line with consistent material specifications
- Blade changeovers directly limit your throughput
- Surface finish consistency across long production runs is a requirement
- You evaluate tooling on cost-per-cut, not cost-per-blade
TCT is likely the better choice when:
- Your production mixes multiple alloy series or material types
- Volume is variable and tool utilization is unpredictable
- Per-blade acquisition cost is a primary procurement constraint
